Artist's Description

Old Man River, yep this is Memphis and the very reason that this town exists in the first place. The cotton industry grew this town and the river is the way the cotton traveled everywhere from here. Please take the time to find all of the hidden Memphis goodies in this piece. I have written two feature film screenplays about that old river and all the good, bad, and stanky that has come out of that swirling muddy water. This is one of my own favorite pieces. I think the way that I connected the Memphis crafted Gibson guitar melding together as one with the cracked mud, is one of the reasons I love it. The ancient, rusty, tie-down rings have surely heard countless thousands of river tales as the slaves and masters, the river rats all dragged their worn frames past them. Oh, if they could just loosen their cold steel lips to tell, to tell those sordid tales indeed.
